This camp offers a great location for backpackers who want to explore the beautiful desert landscape. the view over the Ramon crater is stunning, providing a unique and picturesque backdrop for your stay. the rooms may be basic, but they offer a comfortable place to sleep with clean mattresses. the on-site facilities, including the communal dining area and clean restrooms, ensure that you have everything you need for a pleasant stay.
There are some practical drawbacks to consider. the lack of lockable rooms means you have to keep your valuables in your car, which can be inconvenient and worrisome.

Unbelievable value for your money, with clean and comfortable hut-like rooms. Gorgeous communal spaces for dining and relaxing. Very clean restroom and shower areas. Friendly owners always available to answer questions and provide insight. Perfect basecamp for exploring the natural wonders of the area. Close to a five-star hotel and a must-visit vegan restaurant. Immaculately clean beds with heating if needed. Delicious breakfast with a variety of options. Convenient location, easy to find on foot. Complimentary tea in December. Well-equipped kitchen and amenities. Amazing view, even though we missed the sunrise due to clouds. Great shower with lots of hot water. Super friendly staff.

We had an amazing stay at Desert Shade Camp. the location on a small hill overlooking the majestic Mitzpe Ramon crater was breathtaking. the hut-like rooms were clean, comfortable, and secure. the communal spaces for dining and relaxing were gorgeous. the staff, including Ziv and Maya, were friendly and provided great insight and advice on the natural wonders of the area. We enjoyed petting Michael, their regal white lab. the showers had plenty of hot water and the breakfast was lovely. It was the perfect, comfortable, and affordable basecamp for our desert adventure.
Nothing, all was good. 😊

The staff was friendly and helpful, always ready to offer recommendations for hiking and biking trails in the area. We took a jeep safari tour, which was an exhilarating experience filled with breathtaking views and adrenaline-inducing moments. The property also offered a morning yoga session amidst the serene desert landscape, allowing us to find inner peace and relaxation. Our children were captivated by the marvels of nature, and we all enjoyed the unique and authentic atmosphere of the camp.
My children wanted more options for family activities at the camp.

The views were absolutely breathtaking! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the magnificent landscape. And the fact that I could see the sunrise straight from my window was simply magical. The location was perfect for nature lovers like myself, with plenty of hiking and outdoor activities to enjoy. Another advantage was the quiet and serene atmosphere, perfect for a peaceful and relaxing stay.
The kitchen could have been better equipped with cooking utensils, which made it a bit challenging to prepare meals. Additionally, the shower and toilet facilities were basic but clean.

The ambiance of Desert Shade truly made my stay unforgettable. The rustic charm of the ecotent was beautifully complemented by the warm and welcoming decor of the communal building. As a senior woman, I greatly appreciated the thoughtful design and accessibility of the hotel. The pathways were well-maintained, allowing for easy and safe navigation, while the comfortable seating areas provided ample opportunity to relax and soak in the stunning desert views.
A small improvement that would enhance the vacation experience for senior guests is the presence of handrails or grab bars in the ecotents. Having these additional safety features would provide extra stability and peace of mind, especially when moving around in the ecotents or using the facilities.

Breathtaking Views and Magical Atmosphere: The moment I stepped onto the Sun Terraces, I felt like I had entered a hidden realm straight out of a fairytale. The marble floors, carved from the crater, provided a surreal backdrop for the spectacular view of the crater. It was like dining in a palace fit for the ancient Nabateans, with the same views they once enjoyed.
